Spend 5-10 minutes studying one texture. Sharp edges, bubbles, cracks, and twisted surfaces can show how lava cooled, broke, or weathered after an eruption.

Moss on Lava
Use 5-10 minutes to notice how moss softens the dark lava. Moss grows slowly in cold, windy places, and it helps thin soil begin forming over rock.
Mission 3
Steam or Mist
Spend 5-10 minutes watching movement in the air. Steam can come from geothermal heat, while mist and low cloud can come from cool wet weather moving across uneven land.

Dramatic Horizon
Take 5-10 minutes to notice scale. Open horizons can reveal layers: young lava, older mountains, weather moving in, and the smallness of roads or people against the land.
